We’re excited to announce the launch of the Digital Publishing Group (DPG), an industry group designed to educate, inspire, and empower publishing professionals to take advantage of the digital space. We’re planning to hold monthly events, and all industry professionals and students, including publishers, booksellers, and service providers, are welcome to attend. Our first event, co-sponsored by the Book Industry Study Group, will be a brown bag lunch on May 6 at the Random House offices in New York. Debbie Stier, SVP and Associate Publisher of HarperStudio and Director of Digital Marketing at HarperCollins, will be speaking about “what’s next” for the publishing industry. There are a few seats still available for this free event; if you’d like to attend, please contact me (Maggie Hilliard) at DailyLit: mhilliard [at] dailylit [dot] com. You can also hear the latest about the group by tracking the #digpub tag on Twitter.

Hey Maggie…how does this work for us West Coast types? Will there be alternatives for participation?

Thanks for your interest, Kassia. We’re working on a solution to make the talks available to folks who can’t be there in person. We’ll definitely post something here when we have it figured out! In the meantime look on Twitter for tweets with the tag #digpub for info about the event.

Hi Maggie, I’m interested too and I’m in Australia! Given it is digital publishing, will there be a digital forum for the group! Thanks so much, Joanna

Hi Joanna,
Great to hear you’re interested! Yes, we’ll be creating a forum for discussion, and the video should be available shortly. We’ll announce both things right here on the DailyLit Blog.
