Read as a teen, her story inspired me to write about my Mother after she died when I was 23. Along with Marmee, this parental character "Mama" left a lasting impression. It deals with familial loss so beautifully (though this isn't the main focus of the novel) and the character of the mother, Gracie, is pretty unforgettable.
